Thousands of charity runners are already set to get into their red suits for this year’s Santa Dash through the city. The record for the most Santas in one place in Britain stands at 3,445. But entries this year have already beaten that, with 3,800 people set to take part. But a few more will help the city smash the world record.

It’s a special event because so many people, including families of all ages, can take part. Four thousand people dashing along Castle in Santa suits is going to be a fabulous sight.
The Santa Dash raised more than £40,000 in 2004. The 5km run will set off from Liverpool town hall on December 4 to raise money for the ECHO Sunrise fund which is supporting the Marina Dalglish Appeal for a cancer unit at Fazakerley hospital. A full Scottish band will be on hand to pipe the Santas on their way and fairground rides will be at the end of Castle Street.
