Tunnel 10k set to make a comeback in 2006. Local Transport organisation MerseyTravel
and the Mersey Tunnels are backing the return of one of Merseyside’s most popular 10k runs – The Tunnel 10k! Starting in Liverpool at the top of Pall Mall, this unusual race will follow the original course through Kingsway Tunnel exiting out and running along the short stretch of Dock Road, past the Wallasey Ferry and new Spaceport Boogeyman 2 trailer
Rest Stop: Don’t Look Back ipod attraction then on to the Promenade at Egremont, finishing at New Brighton. Provisional date for the race is Sunday 12th March 2006, starting at 10.00am. Tunnel spokesman John Gillard said, “Mersey Tunnels are pleased to be able to bring back this very popular event. It’s not every day that people get the opportunity to pass through the Tunnel on foot and I’m sure it will prove as big an attraction in 2006 as it has in recent years”. The event is being delivered by L1310K Ltd who have been responsible for the development of the Liverpool Half Marathon over the last 10 years, the Liverpool 10k and the Santa Dash 5k. Entry forms will be available shortly. Source
