LIVERPOOL is set to go head to head with Las Vegas in a Santa Dash.
This year’s charity event is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever. Last December, 3,921 Santas donned their red suits and ran five kilometres, earning the stunt a place in the Guinness Book of Records. The event, in aid of the ECHO’s Sunrise Fund, will take place in December again and city Santas will be battling to keep their world record status. The city’s nearest Santa Dash rival was Newtown, Wales, but this year they have cancelled their event. But there is still competition, for Las Vegas is organ-ising a similar event for mid-December. So far the Santa Dash in Liverpool on December 3 has had 353 entries and 56 for the mini dash. Regulars at the Newtown event have been entering the Liverpool dash and organisers have had entries from Wolverhampton, Shrewsbury and Dudley. continues
