The location: A very windy Liverpool City Centre
The aim: To retain the World Record of the most santas in one place at the same time!
Another fantastic turn out for the 2006 Liverpool Santa Dash East of Eden on dvd Secondhand Lions release . Thousands of santas turned out in the wind and cold to run 5K, with the aim of retaining and breaking the record already held by Liverpool from last year. turned up to begin the race but not before she said a few words to stair up a bit of rivalry between our Liverpool race and the Las Vegas one (our only real threat of loosing the title of world record holders). I was in the crowd at the very front and can confirm she took a bit of stick and endured a bit of heckling as the runners were very keen to start the race.
Once it was underway we had to endure a blinding sun and howling wind as the route took us along Liverpool’s famous waterfront. It was tough to say the least. A similar route from last year but running with the weather in our faces tested our endurance to the limit.
I enjoyed it and am still recovering as I’m sure many are! I managed to take over 60 photographs of the race plus one video that is available to view.
