Derry in Northern Ireland Santa Dash

Category: UK Santa Dashes — Kev @ 6:25 pm

It has emerged that Derry in Northern Ireland have come to the fore in the Santa battle this Christmas. Derry Event organiser Martin Mullan contacted the Liverpool office to issue a World Record warning with the announcement of a new event in the city on December 9th. They have targeted 10,001 Santas in the first year and Martin is convinced they will not only get the 10,000 but the World record as well. Martin said…” when we saw the fantastic impact the Liverpool Santa Dash has on the city we decided Derry should have one as well! it looks an absolutely brilliant day and I can’t wait for ours. Liverpool has done well in the last two years but we believe it is time to bring the record to Derry!’.

  1. I only heard about this event in Derry earlier on this week. I think it’s a great idea and I did a post about it on my blog.

I often go up to Donegal but unfortunately I won’t be able to this weekend because of work but otherwise I’d have loved to have gone to Derry for it.

I wish them luck with the record attempt.

  2. I’m looking forward to the Derry 1001 Santas – it is a cracking idea (even if not original :-) ) to get 1001 santas onto Derry’s walls. I’m not sure how many we will get, but personally I have 19 members of my family registered – from Grannies to Grandkids. We even have the ex-pats flying in from England…..Liverpool of all places!! Should be intersting to see if we can beat the Liverpool and Vegas records… sure, we’ll know soon enough….

  4. Well done to all the people that took part in the Liverpool Santa Dash. It Looked great fun. I hope that ours in Derry is as good. I am ready to take a heart attack with all the hard work to try and beat your record. It was great fun talking to Alan and the girl from Las Vegas on the Tele the other night. At the moment you still are the champions even though Las Vegas are claming that they have over 7000. We have two days to go and we have reg. Over 11,000 people so far. Lets hope they turn out. If any one wants to come over and join in your very welcome. Martin Mullan. Event Organiser Derry

  5. Could you pass on my contact details to Conor Deeny, who posted a message on your site on December 7th at 7.06pm (or pass me his email address if you prefer). I work with the Derry Journal newspaper and it would be interesting to talk to someone who did all three Santa events in Las Vegas, Liverpool and Derry. Congrats on your efforts there in Liverpool and best of luck in trying to retrieve your world record!
