Waking up to heavy rain this morning immediately got me worried. This was the first year it had rained. The alarm bells were ringing, had it all been a big waste of time and effort this year? Will it be called off? Will the rain stop? What about the health and safety of the running santas? Will everyone turn up or just a handful? etc…

^^Phil – A Santa Dash 1st Timer^^
I plodded on regardlessly, praying for better weather. We drove to the new King’s Dock car park and noticed that santas were arriving as in previous years. It was still raining though. After meeting a friend (his first dash) we carried on wet and damp to the Pier Head were I quickly realised that nothing was going to dampen the spirits of a world record beating crowd of over 6,000 santas (A new Guinness World Record?) ready to race. Would you believe, the rain had also stopped!

^^The Crowd Gathers^^
The route was a fantastic diversion Lars and the Real Girl movie away from the waterfront warehouses as in previous years and it perfectly showcased Liverpool’s historic streets and buildings. The awesome sight of St. George’s Hall as it came into view was breathtaking as we ran up the buss lanes past St. John’s Precinct.
^^The Finish Line^^
The sprint to the finish was difficult, my mate (his first santa race remember) beat me across, cheeky. 25 minutes it took, I was happy with that. I picked up my medal, t-shirt and goody bag and then made my way back, met my wife and children and got ready for the Mini Dash! That too was a laugh and my kids enjoyed every minute of it.
Highlights
:
The new route.
The medal.
The enthusiasm and spirit of the 6,000 santas. (A new Guinness World Record?)
The pride and passion of the race announcer.
Meeting friends. (how on earth does that happen in a crowd of 6,000 santas?!)
Plus lots more.
This has been by far the best Liverpool Santa Dash I have ever been involved with
Ghosts of Mars movie download , without any doubt. Truly world class!

Wonderful event. I ran with a colleague and some students from Neston High School. We had a great morning – the sight of thousands of Santas all bunched together at the start was surreal! Lovely route and lovely atmosphere throughout. We’ll be back next year with a MUCH bigger crowd. See you all in 2008!

Our first Santa Dash but will be back for more. My 6 year old boy couldn’t wait to get started and he loved every minute of it – he can’t wait to show off his medal tomorrow. Had a fab time, friendly atmosphere, well organised and lucky with the weather. See you next year!!!

We had great day – all the family running together. The only downside was the scrum getting the T-shirts. Everyone behaved well but the smaller members of the family felt a bit scared.
Everything else wonderful! Thanks so much.

Yet another well organised Santa Dash event, I was the Evertonian in a blue suit getting loads of attention from Alan Jackson.
Once again the Echo decided to boycott the publicity leading up to the event. Just dont buy the red echo its not worth a penny!
Can we have the original course back though for next year too many twists and turns this year!
10/10 though……….

Had to get up very early on a dark wet Sunday morning for this run, thinking “I must be mad!”
Still be back for more next year…whatever the weather throws at us, it is not to be missed!
Loved the snow at the end…..very christmassy!

What a fantastic day. This is my 2nd Santa Dash and my buddy from last year was back also but this time we brought another 2 with us. Already started recruiting for 2008!
I agree about the twists and turns in the route, but I prefered this to last years wind along the front. It helped me shave 9 mins off last years time finishing at 35 mins.
Alan and team thanks for your organisation once again, but can you please think about a diferent location for tshirts and goodie bag collections it was just like a rugby scrum especially when there were lots of non runners trying to find loved ones when nothing had been collected and no slips handed in for the record attempt. I understand what Deborah means as I would think little ones would be intimidated by this.
Here’s to 2008 and sub 30 mins!!
And for the Liverpool Echo they missed a great event and it’s their loss, I’ll never buy another one of their papers as a result.

Came over from Bradford to run this one with my uncle. The atmosphere was great and the sight of so many people dressed as santa’s was amazing. Great t-shirt and top class medal!! Think I might do it again next year!

The Liverpool Santa Dash 2007 was my 3rd (I missed 2005 ‘cos I’d just had heart surgery). It’s become a family tradition for me and my 3 grown up kids doing the run and we really loved the new route this year, it made the run more interesting. As always we had a ball, the sight of the sea of red and white as far ahead and as far behind as you can see never ceases to amaze me and I always feel privileged to be taking part, it really gets our Christmas off to a good start. If you’ve never taken part before I seriously recommend it for next year, even if like me you’re not a runner, it’s something everyone can take part in and enjoy, and it’s good to know you’re raising a few ‘bob’ for good causes at the same time.
Merry Christmas and a fab 2008 Capital of Culture year xx

Well Santas – you did the city proud, despite the poor weather conditions! Is there nothing that will dampen your spirits? Just to say think the course worked well and is likely to remain largely intact for 2008 as it is unlikely ANY event will be given permission to use the Strand and Waterfront Roads (dare I mention the Mathew Street Festival!)Pleased you enjoyed the day. Personally I liked the medal this year. and If we finish in Derby Square again next year I will look at at a different layout for the t shirt collection.I only hope we retain the World Record afteryour fantastic efforts yesterday – although I have been advised that Las Vegas have improved on their numbers this year. It could be close!
As soon as I have any more information I will post on http://www.runliverpool.org.uk Well done to everyone who took part!

Hi
Ran in the Santa Dash on Sunday and I have to say, it was AWESOME! So well organised, a great route, an electric vibe and top marks for medal and t-shirts. Enjoyed it so much and looking forward to taking part next year. Lets hope we beaten the Las Vegas Santa’s!

I took part in my first ever 5K (the Santa Dash). It was soooooooooo brilliant! Loved it! I was a little disappointed not to run over the finish line due to the congestion but apart from that FAB. Made a new friend who I’m going to train with too. Next year planning on getting my two boys to do the mini dash.
Well done to everyone. How can we promote this to get more people involved? I only heard about it from a friend. Never heard anything in the media.
