In 2010, The Las Vegas Great Santa Run was a huge success with over 5,000 participants! What’s this year’s goal? 15,000+ Santa’s and taking the WORLD record back from Derry, Ireland!

Participants can run in The Great Santa Run 5K; walk the 1 mile Kris Kringle Jingle or simply throw on your Santa Suit and come out to enjoy the festivities. Register online to receive your five piece Santa suit provided by Opportunity Village and run for people with intellectual disabilities. Town Square Las Vegas will once again generously host The Las Vegas Great Santa Run. Participants should register online for a pre-registration rate of $35, or $25 for children 12 years of age and under.

“Day of” registration begins at 8 am at Town Square in the front parking lot. “Day of” registration is $45, or $35 for children 12 years of age and under.

The run begins at the main front entrance to Town Square at 10:am. See you there!!!

World Santa Challenge

With the all new winners of the World Santa Challenge formally announced it is now up to the rest of the world to challenge the Las Vegas Great Santa Run this year. Any city or town, charity or organised Santa Fun Run event can take part although in order to challenge officially you will need to have official World Santa Challenge status.

The 2009 events were close run and the Liverpool Santa Dash fell just short of the massive total 8,868. This year Liverpool will be looking for a 10,000 turnout and will be putting pressure on Las Vegas to retain the WSC title.

Joining The World Santa Challenge

If you would like to join in the World Extravaganza then there will be a fairly simple procedure to follow and details will be listed on the WSC Membership page very soon.

It is clear that in recent years the Santa Fun Run idea has really taken off and by taking part in the 2010 World Santa Challenge you can put your event on a world stage, wherever you are!

The event in 2008 was a Las Vegas Great Santa Run to remember, as over 6,000 Santas came out to support Opportunity Village and participate in one of the city’s most memorable events. This year, we had some very special guests and some surprising twists!

The event started off great food and drinks provided by Dunkin’ Donuts and Albertsons and included appearances from the Fox 5 Crew, Melanie & Michael from Sunny 106.5 FM and special holiday tunes from DJ Alpyne. Then, Kailey Swanson kicked off the festivities with a very special performance of the National Anthem. Shortly after, we were greeted by Las Vegas’ favorite voice and friend of Opportunity Village, Robin Leach!

After issuing the challenge out to Liverpool, Australia, Ireland and Milan, the Palo Verde Prima Donnas wowed us with their amazing dance moves, it really got the energy of our Santas flowing! Then, our 6,119 Santas were led in the Santa Run theme song “Run Santa Run” by local singer/songwriter George Dare and the Las Vegas Review Journal Reindeer! “Run Santa Run! HO! HO! HO!” continues

Within the sea of over 7,000 Santas was the real hero of the Great Santa Run organized by our favorite charity, Opportunity Village as its big annual fundraiser. Injured illusionist Roy Horn who walked the 1k course in little more than an hour even threw away his walking cane to show the recovery progress he’s making.

Some of their fans traveled from as far away as Europe to join their team to help Vegas officially beat Liverpool in the dual-city challenge to grab the Guinness Book of World Records championship title.

70,000 Santas in moscow? Can it be true? Or could it be a huge ‘Santa Con’?

Every December for the last 13 years, Cacophonous Santas have been visiting cities around the world, engaging in a bit of Santarchy as part of the annual Santacon events.

It all started back in 1994 when several dozen Cheap Suit Santas paid a visit to downtown San Francisco for a night of Kringle Kaos. Things have reached Critical Xmas and Santarchy is now a global phenomenon.

At the time I filmed the people at registration they said it was very close to 5000…but this was maybe an hour before the race. I was trying to get the final number, but they said it would be on the organizers website – Opportunity Village
